a bit about me ...
Zami Inez, inward-facing yet strikingly direct artist and singer-songwriter, grew up in Philadelphia and is currently based in London. Classically trained as a vocalist, Zami spent many years singing in choirs and performing in musicals before developing a passion for writing songs at the age of eleven. She draws her inspiration from genre fluid female singer-songwriters with a soulful edge, like Lianne La Havas, Sara Bareilles, Joni Mitchell and India Arie. She strives to mesh the worlds of pop, folk and R&B, through her songs, in the hopes of paying homage to the Black female musicians that have influenced these genres throughout history.

As a vocalist and studying guitarist, she has performed in many venues on the east coast both self-accompanied as well as with her own band. By gigging around the city of Philadelphia, sometimes up to three times a week, and performing with some big names like Estelle, Bon Jovi and the cast of Hamilton, she quickly learned that she wasn’t just a singer and a writer, but that she had a love for performing as well. Zami has just recently crossed into the world of production and uses Logic Pro and Ableton Live to compose and produce her music.
Zami attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music under a Presidential Scholarship and graduated in 2022 with a BA in Songwriting. She is currently writing and producing her debut album that is slated to be released in September of 2024. Zami is a human first, artist second, who is fascinated by the constantly evolving nature of healing. She creates an introspective sonic realm filled with both pain and power, as she navigates the beauty and the gravity of what it means to be alive. She writes in order to ground herself and to emote in a real and vulnerable way. Zami hopes that writing transparently will inspire young girls to explore their own ideas of life, love, family and beauty through music, and find comfort and healing in it just as she has.
